Bollywood and Hollywood are the most successful film industries in the world. No wonder why it has its fans spread all around the globe. But the kind of fascination seen towards the movies in India cannot be witnessed at any other place. Each one of us has a personal favourite and sometimes it is only the movies of that favourite star that people like to watch. But for the true movie buffs, it is a dire necessity to watch all the movies.

Such people are always keen to know about the movie releases every week so as to watch them on the first go. So here we are, all set to provide you with the list of upcoming Bollywood movies that you can expect to watch this year.

The Bollywood film industry has a huge impact on the lives of its fans. They might not know what is happening around them but when asked about Bollywood, they start reciting their in-depth report of their knowledge.

Movies are the biggest source of entertainment in India. Watching a movie at the end of the week provided good relief from the stresses of a hectic work schedule.

This movie is the treat for travel lovers – must read, must watch

Karwaan is all set to enthrall audiences with its unique storyline. Judging by the response the film received on social platforms, Irrfan’s comic timing is something to look out for apart from the gripping narrative, acting and scenic beauty.

Ronnie Screwvala has turned Karwaan into a dark comedy as the characters keep laughing on the ironies of life and death. Irrfan essays the role of Shauqat, a friend of Avinash (Dulquer) who joins him in retrieving his father’s dead body.

Irrfan’s effortless comic timing while retaining his pierce gaze will leave audiences in splits during the film. Commenting on the same, Dulquer said, “Irrfan’s character is a simple man who we would come across in our lives at some point, but as the plot unravels, he will reveal layers of Shauqat that will touch our hearts! Only Irrfan Sir could’ve pulled off this character.”

Adding further, he said, “Mithila and I missed Irrfan Sir a lot during the promotions of the film. Unlike Shauqat, Avinash is quite uptight and serious in life. It was hard to keep a straight face whenever Irrfan Sir would break into an impromptu joke during the shoot. His spontaneous wit and script improvisations has really brought life into the film.”

Starring Irrfan Khan alongside Bollywood debutants, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar, Karwaan will hit the silver screen today and we cannot be more excited! Stuck with two dead bodies, the queer trio will take you on a road trip that will surely last a lifetime.

Dhadak’s run on 70 mm

Bollywood Box Office:

Dhadak continued to lead in the second week as well, and now the collections stand at 69 crore*.

These are very good numbers not just for a film starring newcomers but also for the kind of investment that has been made on it.

This is a kind of film that should do well on satellite and digital medium as well, which means there would be continued returns in time to come as well. Just like Student of the Year, Karan Johar has invested on the right talent in the form of Ishaan Khattar and Jahnvi Kapoor as well, something that should ensure good future for Bollywood.

Karwaan – Irfan’s brilliance, Salman and Mithila’s freshness

Positives: Irrfan Khan & his dialogues – two major things because of which the movie retains its entertainment value, well explored picturesque locations.

Negatives: The paper thin & unconvincing plot, the movie hangs on a thin thread which is saved by Irrfan Khan’s performance.

Slow track: Plenty of them in the second half, that’s where the makers decide to lower the entertainment and add unnecessary drama.

Yay or nay?: If you’ve watched Mulk & still want to watch a movie in a theater only then you can think to go for this one.

Dulquer Salmaan (Avinash) is someone who’s software engineer not by choice. As seen in every other fulfill-your-ambition movie, it’s his father who stopped him from chasing his dream of becoming a photographer.

The news of his father being dead in a bus accident breaks to him in a very hilarious way. He then goes to Shaukat to borrow his van in order to bring his father’s dead body from the airport.

He gets to know airport that his father’s body has been swapped with someone else & now it’s in Kochi. Their journey over two dead bodies start from here. All this leads to some situations in which Avinash & Shaukat meet Tanya (Mithila Palkar). The plot revolves around the journey of the three of them & how they find themselves.

Bejoy Nambiar’s story is fresh & different but unconvincing. The whole scenario of having a road trip over the fact that you’ve two dead bodies to take care of is half baked. We hear about how Avinash had not-so-good relationship with his father but it’s never been explored to establish that connect. If this would’ve been just another road-trip film with a different back story, there was a chance of the film leaving its mark.

I totally understand how the makers wanted to dig through the phenomena of ‘finding oneself’ but they lacked the conviction with the route they chose to travel on. Akarsh had everything on his side, from the man who can bring the house down by his wit to another man who can do a similar thing by his charm. What he lacked was a good backstory to his characters. Take it any good ‘journey’ film – from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to Piku, it’s always have been about more than the road trip. Karwaan, at times, takes itself too seriously and that’s where it fails.

Karwaan Movie Review: Star Performance

Irrfan Khan: We’re missing you sir! You don’t have to be a fan of him to like him because he’s one of those rare actors who has never been hated for his work. Throw any line at him, he’ll deliver that in 10 similar ways yet making you amuse every single time. He’s the solo winner of this film enjoying one of the best dialogues. Karwaan minus Irrfan would’ve been Buss-Kar(waan) [Sorry for that!].

Dulquer Salmaan: What a royal waste of talent! Those who’ve seen his earlier work will realise how much he’s wasted here. It’s only his charm that acts! He surely deserved a better Bollywood debut. Mithila Palkar – the internet sensation – does pretty well. She stays her natural self and that’s what goes in her favour. After Irrfan Khan’s hilarious dialogues delivery, the second most delightful thing about the film is Kirti Kharbanda‘s cameo. Her character though is forcefully fit in the script but she looks heavenly to dump all those technicalities.

Overall good movie for weekend. Enjoy!

Mulk movie review : Wow! Amazing performances lifts movies rating

Plot:
The youngest son of a Muslim family settled in Benaras gets involved in terrorist activities, leading to a bomb blast massacre. His actions have an adverse effect on the family who are left to defend themselves as people who are innocent and not anti-nationals

Review:

Director Anubhav Sinha sets out to lay bare the prejudice that often precedes people’s perception of the Muslim community in our country. The patriarch of the family, Murad Ali Mohammed (Rishi Kapoor) is a well-respected lawyer who has Hindu friends in the mohallas of Benaras. His daughter-in-law, Aarti Mohammed, (Taapsee Pannu), is also a Hindu.

Following a bomb blast, which kills several people Murad Ali’s younger brother’s son, Shahid Mohammed (Prateik Babbar) becomes a suspected terrorist but refuses to surrender to the police. The horrific incident changes the lives of everyone in the family and Shahid’s father, Bilaal Mohammed (Manoj Pahwa) is taken into police custody under suspicion of being involved in terrorist activities. The family’s friends from other faiths also turn foes, and Murad Ali has no other option but to defend his brother and prove that they are as loyal and as patriotic as anybody else in the country.

Mulk throws light on how people fall prey to political agendas that intend to divide the country on the basis of ‘us’ vs ‘them’. Through the dialogue-heavy narrative, the film reiterates for the umpteenth time, that terrorism has no religion. However, the tonality of the film is far from subtle and the perspectives are presented vehemently in a manner that’s jarring and overbearing. The first half is slow-paced but what really works for the film is the dramatic courtroom scenes, which will make you think about the Islamophobia that exists around us. Sometimes without us being cognizant of it.

Rishi Kapoor as the patriarch performs his role with restraint and nuance. The seasoned actor brings gravitas to his portrayal of a Muslim man who refuses to succumb to the polarities manifested by both Hindus and Muslims. And yet, is aware that he has to prove his love for his country beyond doubt. Prateik Babbar as a young Muslim boy who voluntarily chooses to involve himself in a terrorist act despite being raised in a family, which has no allegiance to anti-national sentiments is miscast. Taapsee Pannu as the daughter-in-law shines in the courtroom scenes but at times, she falters at delivering lengthy monologues. In the supporting cast, Manoj Pahwa, Neena Gupta and Ashutosh Rana are competent.

Shot in the bylanes of small town India, the film captures the milieu it is set in aptly. The music is the weakest link and the soaring and melodramatic background score in some portions is distracting. Mulk focusses on some hard-hitting and burning issues, while also highlighting the crucial role that the media and various other channels of information play in disseminating the right news and facts to its citizens. It also brings to fore the other faces of terrorism which often gets brushed under the carpet.

Take care you all.
